Why does my copied emoji show as a box □?

Because the receiving platform doesn't have that emoji in its font yet. Newer emojis (like recently-added Unicode additions) can take a few OS releases to show up everywhere. The text is fine — just re-install it or update the OS and the box turns back into the intended emoji.
